Creating wonderful
connections with pets happened by accident, really, over
15 years ago.
I was working for a
retailer in Kennebunk, Maine for several years. In
a small town it was easy to meet and make new friends.
Most families I met lead very busy lives, had
long-working days and often traveled out of town.
One common concern for
most of these hard-working folks was very often their
four-legged loved ones spent a lot of time alone.
I thought, well, I have
time to give and I want to help...
Then it happened, a
friend was facing the "what am I going to do with my dog
while I'm away" dilemma.
I stepped up, offered
her dog a spot at my place and they accepted! We had a
week of sharing walks, companionship and playtime.
Best of all, we were both happier and healthier
at the end of our visit!
From that time on,
referrals to house-sit, walk dogs, feed and care for
cats, birds, you name it, continued to come my way.
Over the years, I
married, had a family and had pets of my own. I
continued to make pet connections, as a side-line
"occupation" and it also became a natural part of my
husband's and 2 son's lives.
Finally, in 2006, a
turning point occurred in my full-time career.
This place I was sure I'd retire from informed me my
position was "eliminated."
I was faced with so much
uncertainty... and then someone asked me, "If you could
do anything, what would it be?"
Suddenly, it became
clear to me... I am going to make my real passion's work
a reality, and so, Caroline's Pet Connections was
created.
